So, like, it's been established that there's some really goddamn creepy screams coming from somewhere that both Asgard and Niflheim can hear them. Clearly. The hell would that place be? And what would be capable of making such a noise. Besides, apparently, children of Jazz's race.

I mean, it sounds like it's in pain, but if it's in pain, then... something would have had to have happened to it. There's also the fact that chances are, it's going to be quite large for the sound to carry, which means with all the exploration both sides have done, how come no-one's come across something capable of making this sound? Unless someone has and they're keeping quiet about it (but for what purpose? What would the POINT of having something scream and disrupt both sides?)

Guess it could just be another test, or part of one of those days (...periods would be the more accurate word here, wouldn't it?) that are seriously messed up.

On a side note, the talk of giant chickens and cooking has made me really want a decent dish of okonomiyaki. Not that it's going to be possible to make a decent dish here ε- ( ̄、 ̄A) フゥー

Yes. It has been established.

Speculation has been offered... but I've only been able to contribute to the "why" aspect, not the "what."

Yeah, I saw. You reckon something's being born, right? But then, that means that there's more than one of these things that can make this noise, which makes you wonder how everyone's managed to miss things of the presumable size. Of course, I'm still wondering how one can be missed if it's capable of this noise.

But, like, I'm mostly confused by the fact that no one's able to pinpoint where it might be. The noise should be louder in one area than another, and as of yet, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Not necessarily. In this realm, we've seen that things can just appear, or be created by Metatron or Lucifer. So, perhaps it's being born in the conventional sense, or... created.

Acoustically, that is an anomaly. The forest is as close as I can call it... have you heard it from anywhere besides Niflheim? I wouldn't know if it's any louder or softer anywhere else, as I've only heard it from one spot and can't compare.

Ahh, that's true. I hadn't really thought of that.

No. I haven't been outside of Niflheim grounds since the noise first sounded. Regardless, I would have thought it would be more audible from one end than the other, and that doesn't seem to be the case. What prompted me to make that comment was that there are people not in Niflheim or Asgard and they haven't made any comment as to the noise being unbearably loud or inaudible.

I'm somewhat tempted to try and see if there's anywhere outside of Niflheim grounds where it's more/less audible.

But then, if it's being created, and it's Metatron or Lucifer's doing, then there's a chance that we won't find it until they want us to. If they're to do with this (which is likely), then it's possible it's something to do with the upcoming trials? (They're pretty soon, right).

Ah. Then it truly is an acoustic anomaly. I actually have a difficult time even telling what direction it comes from... the cries are piercing and shrill, so that might have something to do with it. Human ears distinguish some sounds better than others...

I don't doubt that a revelation will occur, but only when they're ready. I have been fantastically annoyed since arriving here, with how little control we have over our own fate.

Byyyy the way. The last time I was in Emptiness, I noticed that the bookstore has a great Dostoevsky selection.

True. After all, to Jazz, it sounds like the cries of children from his race. It's possible that he would have a better time distinguishing the direction of the sound than the rest of us. I don't know about the rest of the non-humans here, though.

Likewise. It was obvious from the beginning that we were going to be nothing but pawns, but I'm sure it would be more entertaining if we had something to aim for, rather than going around in circles searching for something to do. Although I guess if you're that way inclined, dropping tiny hints in front of us is probably entertaining as well. I'd have thought that God would be more inclined to present those made in His image with a fairer game to play. But hey, my interpretation and knowledge of Christianity is possibly poor and wrong.

Ha. You're not going to give up on that, are you?

Pardon my interruption, but... I think part of the reason is that even Lucifer and Metatron have to obey rules? As powerful as they are...they don't do everything they could, and what they can do they do often only when asked.

God is...not necessarily fair, it depends on the beliefs of the individual Christian. Many feel that God is a being who tests humanity to force us to grow.

Like I said, I probably interpreted what I knew of Christianity poorly. Christianity was viewed as a 'western evil'. I can't say I ever felt any urge to find out any more about it.

Oh, that was phrased badly. I meant that when I was in Japan I never had any desire to find any more out about Christianity. I don't view it as an evil, but organised religion never appealed, no matter how it was presented. That's why I said my knowledge was poor.

Oh!

I can understand that Christianity doesn't appeal to everyone, and I don't expect it to. I may be Christian, but I do not believe that everyone should have to follow the same system of beliefs.

I only hope that everyone can get along, at least a little more humanely with each other...

So you are an athiest, then, or do you have a personal set of religious beliefs that you keep private to yourself?

Ha. Getting on better. Now there's a dream that's unlikely to come to realisation if humanity continues as it is. We're too flawed for that.

I would have said I was an atheist, but the situation here kind of forced me to accept that higher beings obviously exist. Whether or not [they're] Gods or otherwise... I don't know. I'm not going to be worshipping anyone, regardless of what they may or may not be.

That might be true, but isn't it more useless to not even try...?

I don't think God really minds if someone worships Him or not, only that we be "good" people. There are plenty of wonderful people who are athiests. And there are plenty of wonderful people in China, and there's lots of amazing Japanese people too, at least when I was around that area, so I don't think religion truly determines much when it comes to the quality of a human being.

Never said it wasn't. There's a hell of a lot of people that won't even try and that's what pisses me off. 'Oh, it's alright for me, in this situation, it's not brilliant, but I'm doing well. Kind of a shame for those others, but... There's nothing I can do that will change anything. Just got to put up with our lot.'

And yeah, I'm with you that it isn't determined by religion. And like everyone else here, you must have seen a different Japan to the one I grew up in. Makes me kinda envious.

I sympathize with you, I find it...incredibly sad when people will not even try. Horrible things happen when no one stands up and tries to do the right thing.

The eastern places I visited are likely different from everyone else's here, as I come from around the time just before the first World War. The Japanese army was...very frightening at that time.

Ha. You're telling me.

At least you just had the army. I'm guessing the first World War might've gone slightly differently for your world. I'm guessing the attitudes of the (Japan's) armies were similar, though, because the government in power now seems to have some similar viewpoints to the government that was in power at that time, if what I've read is correct. Except we didn't have an Emperor. Similar concept, though. Different name. Different way of running the same country.

((ooc: Alternate time line is go! That would have, according to how I sat down and worked it out, which makes me feel like a massive geek, was just after the fascist government consolidating power. /useless knowledge))

Uh, my observations that there's a noise and no one knows where it's from? So, you're saying you know where it is? That you know what the thing is?

That's the only way you can know that my observations are bollocks.

All I'm saying is that writing that is like pointing out that the sky is blue, or that cows eat grass, or that Mello Is Great.

It's bollocks that you feel like writing that shit down, after lots and lots of other people already have.

It's mistaken because it's not remotely true and it's ironic because if it were true, you wouldn't have to keep saying. Everyone would already know.

I'd be kind of worried if he hallucinated a giant chicken. Doesn't bode well, you know?

It's unfortunate there's no beef or pork. Ah, whatever. Even that we've got chicken (supposedly) is decent enough. Hope you're better at cooking than I am.

I wasn't going to ask either of them. If they're going to tell us what's going on, they'll tell us. If they make no effort to give any idea of there even being a set plan, beyond 'oh, at some point, there's going to be trials', then they're not going to be saying anything that will give any more of an idea, no matter what is asked.
